unfurl me

Upper voices choral work commissioned by One Equall Musick, with support from the SOCAN Foundation. unfurl me is dedicated to freeing and celebrating the sapphic longing between Anne and Diana in the classic novel Anne of Green Gables. Forest Fire: the black river of loss whose other side is salvation

Solo organ composition inspired by the poem “Blackwater Woods” by Mary Oliver, which depicts the building chaos of a wildfire, and the emptiness that comes after. Inspirations also include the sound of wildfires, climate anxiety, the sad hope after loss, the oppression of smoke season, and the feeling after a really good cry. This is version II. of three versions of this piece, which uses a loop pedal and delay.

Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis

For organ, portatif organ, choir, and soloist with electronics. This setting of the Magnificat captures the mystery and dread of the annunciation with choral aleatory, and delay and loop on the soloists voice. The choir is at the front of the church with the portatif organ, and the organ and soloist are in the back, creating a spatialization of the sound. Commissioned by the choir of Christ Church Cathedral.

Unlikely Wilds is an immersive piece composed for organ, viola, euphonium, electronics, voice, which incorporates film, oration, and dance. This is a 10 minute distillation of the first performance in May, 2022. Unlikely Wilds explores what it means to re-wild our perspective as urban dwellers in three chapters - City, Wild, and Rewilded City. 'City' illustrates the crushing despair of urban life, 'Wild' depicts the rejuvenation found in nature, and 'Rewilded City' questions the ideological barriers between city, wildness, and humans.
